The average lifespan of a Siberian Husky is around 12 to 15 years. However, with the advancement of veterinary medicine, pets have been known to live up to 20 years and even longer. The average weight for this breed of dog is around 35 to 60 lbs.

The most common diseases associated with Siberian Huskies are hip dysplasia, juvenile cataracts, PRA, corneal dystrophy, crystalline corneal opacities, ectopy and dermatitis.

Housebreaking is out of the question for this breed of dog, as it prefers the outdoors. Shedding is average, brush daily.

This breed of dog is not suitable for the apartment or condo environment. Not suitable for the frequent traveler. They need an owner as willful as they are who can demonstrate pack leadership. If they do not know their place in the pack, they will walk all over you. Best Owner has a yard to play in and lots of love and attention to give. Be sure to fence in the yard paying special attention to the bottom to prevent them from digging out and going hunting. They do have wanderlust.
