Bull Terriers are powerful and intelligent. They need to be kept active at all times. They are very loving to their owners, and are tolerant of children.
These dogs are very child friendly. However, because of their strength, they may knock children down when playing. They consider children to be playmates and will sometimes do that to them. They are specifically loyal to their families and owners. Supervise when playing with children.
Lifespan and Weight
The lifespan of this breed of dog is around 10 to 12 years. However, with the advancement of veterinary medicine, pets have been known to live up to 20 years and even longer. The average weight for this breed of dog is around 20 to 85 lbs with the miniature version weighing around 24 to 33 lbs.
Fortunately this breed of dog has relatively few health problems. The problems attributed to Bull Terriers are Deafness, Umbilical Hernia, Acne and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Housebreaking and Shedding
Housebreaking can be difficult, as this breed of dog is in the terrier group. Shedding is average, only requiring a brushing about once every other day.
Best Owner Compatibility
Not for the apartment or condo environment, as this dog requires alot of regular exercise. Best Owner has lots of love and attention to give, but is also firm with this dog. Not recommended for small children, as these dogs tend to be more energetic than the most highly energetic child. Loves to exercise, so best environment would be a fenced in yard to play in.

Owning this breed of dog does not come cheaply. The average cost for one of these dogs is around $1,000 to $1,500 each. Routine veterinary care should be included in your budget.
